This may be considered blasphemy to some, but I think I love Vampire Diaries more than Supernatural.
I remember when SPN first came out and I just fell in love with it. I remember telling people how it was my new 'Buffy' which was my previous TV obsession. And now The Vampire Diaries is quickly becoming my new 'Supernatural.'
I think what I love about VD, aside from the pretty, is the fact that I have no expectations for it. I don't particularly ship a character and I don't have a preference as to where the story line is going, and therefore, the show cannot disappointment me. And, as a result, I can just sit back and enjoy myself for an hour. And that is an awesome feeling.
