the Residental Skater Thread
I was first introduced to Jack and Kate at the beginning of April. My friend had an Evangeline Lilly character on a role play, and I was finally ready to make her girl a guy, but I'd never seen Lost. I IMed a friend that watches pretty much every TV show on TV. I asked who her character dated on the show. Goes to show how much I knew about the show. Dating on an island? He told me about Jate and Skate and that Jate owned him. So I googled Matthew Fox and Josh Holloway. My first thought about both based on image thumbnails was EW. They looked retarded to me. But I went with Matt, since Riley told me Jate was the better ship. Blind faith, I know.
The following month, I began to look more into Jate. Riley told me to watch the kiss clip and after ages of searching, I found it, and it gave me even more butterflies than viewing all the gallery caps of it did. Then I was told to download the net scene, and again, it took ages of searching before I found that. The clip was hot, and it amused me. Eventually I got the hang of the fansites. I downloaded many many many more Jate clips in order to educate myself about them. I read Lostpedia episode summaries. At the end of May, I googled for a Jate forum and that's when I found jak.org.
When I registered, the board had just hit 1000 members, so I got to take part in those festivities. I felt at home on the board, though I wasn't able to participate in episode discussion, as I'd never actually seen an episode. My first ep was 'Greatest Hits' and then I got to see 'Through the Looking Glass' which was the first episode I was able to intelligibley (word?) on the board, and I was very excited. The "I love you" was of course the highlight for us. I didn't know any backstory really, because even with clips, you don't get the full story, but I felt a part of something.
Then it was the summer, and Lost was gone until who knew when season 4 would start back then. It was fine, I guess. We still posted in off topic forums on the board, and let's face it, you know the "I love you" was discussed far into the summer. I finally got a hold of season 1 and 2 on DVD and was able to mostly catch up. But it had been so long since Lost, and barely anything was going on on the board.
Then, a Skater shows up and makes her own thread. I was able to ignore this for a while. But it was really getting to me. It seemed to be the only thread anyone was posting in anymore. Not only was it on the Jack and Kate board, but also in the category and the forum. A link trail should not say Jack and Kate three times before going to a Sawyer and Kate thread. I'm sorry. No thank you.
So what do I do? I go in the thread and speak my mind. It's a Jack and Kate board. We dont' go to their stupid Skater boards and make our own threads. And I'm sure if we did, we wouldn't be accepted. So why were we accepting this Skater into our midst? Someone who said themselves that they could never understand or ship Jate... that just isn't what I need in a Jate sanctuary. I got called dillusional for thinking that the board (jackandkate.org) was supposed to be a sanctuary from Skaters. That is freaking ridiculous. I accused these fellow Jaters of being brainwashed. They believe this Skater is good for them. I think anyone that thinks the anti-Jate is good for the Jater spirit has to be brainwashed. I finally stopped going to the board when I was then told that I was trying to brainwash them into thinking this Skate thread didn't belong
This the season for love, and peace and joy. But the shipping harmony boat sailed ages ago. I'm not a turn the other cheek, and be nice to them when they're horrible to us. I'm sorry if I believe in Jate too much for some people. But I'm not going to stop being a serious Jater for the sake of shipping unity.
