Project Runway: Week 4

Dec 05, 2007 21:50

I got into Project Runway in season 3, Kane was my overall favorite, and he was so, so close to the final four, but as Jeffrey was my second favorite, I was happy to see him win. Although Uli wasn't even close to my favorites throughout the season, her final collection for Bryant Park surprised me.

Season 4, Episode 1
Rami did great. While his design isn't what I chose, he did deserve the win anyway. I do not understand what was so great about Christian's outfit. The clothes and the model looked horrible. I was rooting for Elisa to go, but no such luck. I don't think Simone's was even that horrible, at least her model could walk and it didn't look like my cat got her claws on it. My personal favorite this round was by Chris. I loved the colors and design, and thought the fabric went very well together. It surprised me after seeing his profile that I actually liked something of his.

Season 4, Episode 2
I was surprised by how well Elisa actually managed to pull an outfit together. She proved even more insane in this episode than she did in the last one. I really think a lot of the goodness in this challenge had to go to Sweet P though. I have doubt if Elisa could have pulled the outfit off on her own. I absolutely agree that Christian's outfit was stuck in the 80s, and Carmen annoyed my crying when she was asked who deserved to go. It was a bummer to see Marion go, becuase I didn't have anything against him, but I have to agreen that the outfit was terrible. My favorite this round had to have been Ricky's design with Jack. The sketches seemed grotesque to me, but the dress was sweet, simple, and I liked it. Even not being a belt person, I liked the belt even.

Season 4, Episode 3
People were so stressed! Last season I know they had to design for themselves and so the guys made guy clothes, but to see everyone doing it was... I don't know. I felt bad for them. I think Jack sharing his pattern was wrong, but hey, it was innovative. Is that the right word? Elisa actually got some respect from me tonight because of the whole boyfriend thing. Sure, this would be strictly professional, but it's nice she does have some standards. I agree Carmen had to go on this one though. The fact that she couldn't even finish was just ridiculous. Sweet P was lucky that Carmen did that horrible though, because otherwise that neck that was twice as big as a neck should be would have had her gone. I think most of the people that actually did a decent job made nice looking things though, espeically for first tries. I know Jack won based on personal taste, but pinstripes are ew. I think Kit's was the best of the ones left up there for being good, but I think I'd have to go with Rami for my favorite. PS, can I say yum to male models?

Season 4, Episode 4
Obviously, the big thing here was Ricky vs. Victorya. I was 100% with Ricky on this one. She flat out said that she didn't want to be team leader. And I think he was right when he said it was because she didn't have the balls to do it. She knew that if their collection sucked, she would be the one with her ass on the line. But Ricky was right that she'd said she didn't want to lead, and he'd stepped up. He wasn't being all anal and obsessive. He was just trying to lead the group. Honestly, I was surprised as hell that Elisa was the agreeable one in that group. She tried something new by not using a material that stretched, and she listened to Ricky's suggestions and didn't do anything remotely odd the whole episode. I wasn't crazy about the dress, but it definately didn't suck the worst. For someone who didn't want leadership, she sure was a bitching bossy little brat. I also agreed with Ricky that Victorya shouldn't flatten the model's chest. half the design was the underwear concept. The boobs are supposed to be out, not down. I'm surprised she ended up agreeing with him. I liked her design the best of the group, sadly enough.

I can admit that here and now I still have no idea what the hell the fad was with the suit word in it, that made them all incorperate pinstripes, but I'm assuming that it has to do with pinstripes. And honestly, I don't remember what any of the old fads were for that group, but I think Kit, Christian and Jack got the least camera time this episode. They were neither spectacular or sucky, so they didn't stand out much. I personally wouldn't wear anything for the group, but if I had to choose, I'd go with Kit's on this one.

The camel group. I agree that there was no continuity on that group. The only thing in common was the awful camel color. I have nothing against the color, but just, no. It definately wasn't cohesive. Sweet P really did do a great job with her oversized sweatshirt look on her dress though. If I could pull the look off, I'd wear it. Steven's outfit was only recognizeable as outdated dancewear because of the leggings. Otherwise, I'd have no clue what he was going for. I'll have to agree with the desicision for Chris to go. The shoulder pads were probably extremely hard to update and modernize, but he didn't even look like he tried. That material was awful and I've seen shoulder pads from that time at half the size. They were just way too extreme. The dress didn't really suck, but it didn't do anything for me either.

The winning group. I also have to agree completely with the judges on this one. The outfits all really looked like they went together. I really disliked Kevin's outfit, but high waists and collars just don't do it for me. I also have no idea where overalls, flares, or poodles skirts were incorporated anywhere into the design. I'm so glad that he was able to pull it all together in the last minute. But I do think Jillian should have been breathing down his neck more. She was team leader, she should have ay least been making sure the job was getting done. The dress was amazing. An overalls poodle skirt was just brilliant to me. It was way too cute. I was glad Jillian got the win. The major flared overalls legs didn't even stick out like a sore thumb, and I loved the cut of the top of the overalls. They were just relaly nice. And the sheer top was just way too perfect with it.
