This semester, like many of my others, has had its ups and downs. One day, it seems like I am on the top of the world...and the next, I just suck. My classes this semester were extremely challenging, but hopefully rewarding in the end. I wrote a 14-pager on "why the olympics should never go to south africa", and took a class (research methods) that I still don't understand in the least. Those are just some of the magnificent projects I undertook.
My job as RA went alright this semester...That's all I'm gonna say about it, because I don't want to get into trouble or offend anyone. I'm doing it again next year. Same building. Same floor (?). God help me.
The aspect i've enjoyed the most this semester has been the exposure to the music industry. My radio show helped a lot in that respect. My friends and I got a band (formerly A Second Chance, now Just Surrender), to come in for an interview and acoustic performance. They obliged, since we were all acquantinces for almost a year.
They recently signed on to a subsidiary or Warner Bros. Records, and shot a video yesterday. I was lucky enough to be in the video with my friends. The premise of the video was that the band takes over a music store (Let's Jam, in Poughkeepsie), and an impromptu concert takes place. In one scene, my friends and I pick the lock to the store and bust in. In another scene which may or may not make it in the video, the store's security guard gives me a hard time during their concert and grabs me by the collar. But no matter what, you'll definietly see me in the performance part because I'm right up front...And really tall. It should be online in a few weeks, and hopefully will be picked up by the major music networks soon after (MTV/MTV2/FUSE). Hopefully you'll be seeing me on TV a lot this summer.
Shooting this video was amazing, because I love music. I now understand what goes into making a video, and appreciate the artists' dedication. It often proves to be a tedious process, and a great deal of patience is required. Plus, the director was the fat guitarist from Thursday. And they're in my "Top 5 Bands" list.
Continuing on with the music bandwagon, I escorted Fall Out Boy all around Poughkeepsie last weekend. They had a show at The Chance, and came to Marist for a fundraiser. Patrick (lead singer) was in my passenger seat, and Joe (Guitar). Joe also brought his girlfriend and her friend. In the car, we talked about everything from French Canada to rap. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Pat was super nice, and even answered my phone a few times while I was driving. I took them to Taco Bell/Wendy's, and then dropped them off at the show a little while after. It's astounding for me to comprehend that Fall Out Boy was in my 1995 Buick Skylark.
Super nice guys...Pick up their new album
Here's a picture of myself, Scott, and Bean with the band.
I've seen so many concerts this semester, it's not even funny. A few of the bands are: The Juliana Theory, Gatsby's American Dream (again), The Starting Line, Anberlin, etc...
Continuing with this trend of reflection, I had girl issues as usual. I am not going to elaborate here either, because I really don't want to. Just know that most girls suck, and don't realize it.
I can't wait til Freshman Orientation this June. My close friends and I are gonna have a blast.
Summer job is still somewhat in the air, but I will have one.
I can't wait for school to end...It just needs to. I need Summer.
Next year is gonna be really different. Almost all of my friends will be living across the street, and I'll still be here on the main campus. Plus, Bean is probably going to England, and Scott's girlfriend is transferring here. And I'm not even including all my lovely ladies in Fulton Street. I'm gonna make it a point to make visits up there a lot. I just hope things don't change too drastically.
Time to study for my Jesus Final at 1pm.
