last night zeb and i saw the movie "from hell". it was good, we enjoyed it throughly. it was erie, and gruesome, and mysterious...but, disappointedly, it wasn't the true story. around midnight we met up with drew and justin at old chicago for a drink. j had an apple martini, which i have never heard of, so i sampled. it was pretty good. zeb had shmirnoff ice with grenadine, also new to me, and i sampled.(couldn't really tell the difference)drew had a hard cider and i had a hard limonade. henry's is the best in my opinion.
the group split up for the night, except zeb and i. we got the idea to go on a mini-road trip. we were wondering if they really sold alcohol at any hour in iowa, so we drove to the closest town i knew of: Decorah. while driving down we spotted a drunk violently swerving all over the road. it was scary. especially since there was a semi carrying extremely flammable petrolem not too far behind him...zeb spotted a car for sale in someone's yard that he really wants, so we stopped and got the number. i was waiting for the resident to come out with a shotgun...we drove through Amish country. around 3:30 or 4, i was dosing off, we reached Decorah and slept in my car. waking at about 7:30 we head back to mn. yes, we forgot our original quest to see if we could purchase alcohol. oh well. on the way back we spotted four hunters disemboweling a deer on the side of the road...that really pissed me off. very unrespectful of them. could they not do that at home? we made it back to the cities around 11 and took a little hike under the cedar bridge. there were hundreds of birds/ducks/geese/pelicans, etc on the river. it was amazing!
