Thing's I've learned:
I've learned that life is not a bouquet of roses, nor is it a single memory. It's like a spill that you can't control. Try as you might, you will never be able to control it, but its not necessarily a bad thing all the time. Sure, there are a nice series of fuck-ups that happen in everyone's life, but you know what? I'm still here no matter what happens. I've triumphed over soo many obstacles in my life and my friends are always more than willing to push me through anything I think may be getting too much for me. I've learned that no matter what, your true friends are there; through thick and thin.
I've learned that your true family, is one that you find, not the people that raised you or the people that supported you in your youth, it's the people that support you when your family doesn't understand. The people that are there for you, day in and day out, regardless of what bad things you've done. They are the people that care for you when no one else seems to. Non-judgemental and always loving, they are the true pillars of who you are as a person, just as you are to them.
I've learned that the longer you care what other people think, the less time you have to be yourself.
I've learned that it is soo much better to have loved and lost, than to have never known what love really is.
I've learned that when life gets tough, you can't run and hide. It's even more scary in the dark corner you are hiding in.
I've learned that you better cherish the time you have with the family member that kinda sorta bugs you, because they are going to slip away before you realize what they really meant to you.
I've learned that no matter what, I will always be myself and other people can either accept that or reject that, but it will never cause me to stumble.
And finally, I've learned that when you love yourself for who you are and what you have become, you can truly be at peace and love will find you.
