I took Misty in her first show yesterday, and she was fecking amazing! She was perfect, I couldn't have asked for better. God I love her <3
GET THIS- we were in the ring with 3 STALLIONS and she was still perfect! The Laarys were there on a couple of QH studs and Jess was there with Kho (Kho is love).

I hate Showmanship, but I'd better learn to like it cause I'm gonna be doing it with Milo (that's the baby's name by the way guys). And Misty was convinced the judge was there to mooch off of, yeesh. Go Misty. We managed to get a 3rd and 5th there anyway. Only Misty and one other horse did perfect backups. We also got a 5th in western pleasure. 5th because this FUCKING GIRL ON HER FUCKING PONY kept IGNORING the red ribbon in Misty's tail and practically running us over and cutting us off, so I had to drop from a jog to a walk a few times to avoid her getting kicked. ARGH. Then the judge gave me hell for it! She said my horse shouldn't have a problem with "being passed" and I should never walk when I'm supposed to be jogging. I didn't say anything.
We picked up a 3rd in Trail, Misty did it perfectly except she backed up a wee bit farther than she was supposed to and knocked one of the poles. And the buggers had a GATE in this one! Yeesh. Luckily I was in green horse so I didn't have to close it. And we got 4th in Western Horsemanship. I thought this was our best class for a couple reasons- we were standing next to Brandy on her stallion and he kept squealing and being 'studdy', and Misty didn't care. Then she ran the pattern perfectly! Then I got pissed off at the judge again.

I have no problem with a judge telling us where we need to improve, that's what a schooling show is for, and it gives us something to take home and work on. BUT, when she says something like: "You should not have to use your reins to stop your horse, if you do, you haven't done enough training". Um lady, FUCK YOU! There's a REASON we're at a SCHOOLING SHOW in a GREEN HORSE class. I know at least 3 of the horses there had never been to a show before so fo COURSE they're not going to be perfect.

I have other things to bitch about but I won't, cause I'm happy that Misty did so well ^_^ . She is such a brilliant little western pony! There's another one next month and I'd like to bring Shurman, but there's a Gymkana the day before so I'm not sure... we'll see how much energy he has. It might be better to have him tired out :P

Mica when are you coming home? The Gymkana is the 22nd, hope you can make it!

What else is new? I was able to take Milo's PMU tag off finally, yay! He lets me touch him everywhere on his head (ears included), his neck, shoulders and withers now. I took Hank on a 5 hour Silver Spurs ride up the mountain on saturday! It was sweeeet. Pictures to come. Maybe. If I got any good ones. Tessa's decided she likes behaving (I know, it's a miracle). She's been absolutely awesome, I've started taking her over caveletti and a small crossrail even! She got a perfect lead change once too :D
