As I was saying in lalaithlockhart's LJ, it is September 18, and I am already pwned.
That's right, pwned.
I have readings galore to do. And I am hating the so-called "Socratic Method" of caselaw study. So impractical, particularly when trying to advise clients. The Public Admin readings are boring and I do them at the last minute. They might be interesting if I got into them, but I'm too lazy.
I have assignments galore to do. A briefing memo for contract law. An irritating stats assignment. A weird public management opinion piece which could be interesting if I had a clue what I'm doing. In-class papers on governing institutions. A couple of group presentations to organise. And all this while studying for my 100% final exam in public law, for which there are no second chances.
I have commitments galore to go to. I have a minimum of three meetings a day with people I should be networking with, school administration to sort out timetable/fee/activity issues and conflicts, potential employers, tutors and other helpers, my presentation and assignment groups, and other people I'm helping in study groups. All the while continuing my tutoring in English and Mandarin lessons. I have to ramp that up in anticipation of China. Oh, and I also applied to be on the Queen's Law Journal volunteer committee because I won't get a second chance to do that.
All of that was manageable. Then a monkey wrench was thrown into things yesterday. My thesis supervisor decided that there was only one condition on which I could go on my China exchange in the spring term and work for the Policy Research Initiative in the summer. It is only possible if I accelerate my research to breakneck speed. Breakneck, as in I have to have my research finished this term. Finished! And then a draft done the end of January, a good draft the end of reading week, and a final draft submitted May 1. A dream come true, getting it out of the way before the summer, but how am I going to do this?
