In keeping with the fine tradition of naming transportation, I have christened my new bike Sophie. She's a Peugeot, meaning she's French. Thus, the pronunciation is so-FEE, not SO-fee. Finicky language.
Theoretically, she's a ten-speed bike... if both derailleurs are connected. At the moment, I'm stuck in top gear. Accordingly, acceleration is not what I'd call stellar right now.
I haven't reached top speed yet, partly because I've never ridden a true road bike before and partly because it was dark when I made my first test ride tonight. Perhaps if the weather is cooperative tomorrow I can open up a little on Great Northern on my way to work.
I get the feeling that with a bit more tinkering and some careful upgrades (and time to get used to how she performs) I'll be able to start riding like my hair is on fire again. Should be pretty fun.
