Let us fall silent
For the miners who died on the picket line
and the teenager who died trying to get coal to keep his family warm
Let us fall silent
For the thousand who died in the Falklands
and the hundreds who have taken their own lives since
Let us fall silent
For the ninety six of Hillsborough,
whose deaths were compounded by accusations and controversy
Let us fall silent
For the evicted and discarded,
who lived in homes and died on the streets
Let us fall silent
For those lost to violence in safe, policed cities
because their face, their race, their heart didn't fit
Let us fall silent
and remember them all
and then let us shout so we never forget
