Hi, I've posted before in this community (
ALT or CIR) and decided to go for the CIR since I am well qualified for that.
Right now, I am having trouble deciding who to ask for my letter of recommendation. I'm currently a senior which means I need a recommendation from someone related to the university. I asked a teacher I had at my Japanese Weekend School to write one of them since I was very active and participated in a lot of volunteer activities. I'm trying to decide between a professor that I've had for 2 classes (that I know is fond of me) who I've known for two years or a guidance counselor I've just gotten to know this past month. I've been working a lot with this guidance counselor on coordinating school events (which is relevant to the CIR job).
So who should I ask; this random professor who would probably be willing to write a letter or a school counselor I've just gotten to know but seems more applicable for the CIR job? I've heard that officials prefer professors to write letters, so I'm really hesitant to ask my guidance counselor to write a letter for me.
Also, I have mild asthma (occasional use of inhaler when I have the cold) that I figured I should write on my medical form. My mother however, believes I shouldn't because she feels that it would lower my chance of getting the interview/job/etc. Any thoughts?
