Hey everybody. I'll start off by saying awesome that you're considering doing JET. It's a pretty intense experience.
Some of the oldies have been starting to grumble a little bit though about the annual asking of questions that have already been asked and answered like, a bajillion times before. Don't worry too much about it as you're knew and probably just didn't know. It's all good. BUT, I'd like to tell all of you who are new here (and remind those of you who aren't as new anymore) about the "tag" function we've been trying to utilize in this here LJ community.
First up, as some of the other maintainers and I (and even non-maintainers - you "regular" members can help with this too, so please do!) have taken the time to tag several of the entries, if you've got a question about the program, advice, etc. etc., first please check out the main page on
jetjapan, and at the top you should see a link for "View
Website (Browse this journal by "tags")." From that awesome page, you can then check to see if the type of question you're asking or thinking about asking has already been answered before, and that way it'll help cut down on repeat posts.
If after checking this page you didn't see your question, or if you really honestly think yours is just different enough, go ahead and post it. However, please take the extra minute or so to then tag your entry once it's posted. From the page you see when you're gonna post and/or read comments on a certain entry, right above the post you'll see some neat little icons, like arrows, a heart, a pencil, and the one in the very middle that says "tag" with a pencil on it. Click that one. You'll be taken to a page which'll show the entry, the current tags assigned to it, and below that, a scroll bar with the tags which've previously been made. If at all possible, please use tags that have already been created so that we don't flood the thing making it more difficult to find something (and thus defeat the purpose). You can select more than one by holding Ctrl while clicking another. If you really need a new tag, make one. There're already a ton there though, so for most of your general questions you should probably be able to tag them with something like "applications" or "advice" or whatever's already there. Please familiarize yourselves with it.
Thanks, and welcome to the
jetjapan LJ community!
