So yeah, I guess you can say today was my first official day as a college student, minus the classes. I had oriention part 1 and all freshmen were there.. it was packed and on monday, there are going to be triple the amount of people. But anyway, orientation was cool at first with all the freshmen gathered in the stadium and I got to see what some people where like. We saw the cheerleaders and an all boys acapella group sing, they were pretty good! Then we split up into our undergraduate colleges and went to basic lecture stuff... very boring. then things got alittle bit more interesting when we broke off into smaller groups and had to sit in a circle and play alittle ice breaker game and then make a poster all together based on commitment since we are all in the leadership and serive college. Ours came out nice - except that it didn't helpe us talk and get to know each other at all b/c everyone kept to themselves and alot of them were alreay friends. So after all the mandatory stuff was over, I was going to leave and not go to all the "fun" stuff b/c it seemed as if all the commuters were going home and not staying around, and i didnt know anyone at this point and i was kinda homesick and didnt want to be there anymore. so as i was walking out, i was with this kid chris and he asked me about what time we had to be there 2morrow and we couldn't figure it out b/c both papers had different times, so we went in and asked someone and turns out, we hung out for the rest of the day! first we went to the bookstore and i got the rest of my books, 6 books for english, this is not going to be fun, i can tell already! and then i got to see patricia finally!! it was really nice to see her since i haven't seen her for about a month. so we all hung out and i went to see her suit.. it's nice! and we met up with some of her friends who are all very nice also and then we went to eat dinner and kind of walked back and forth around campus (in the heat and humidity!) until we foudn somewhere. then we went back to her room and played poker and ratscrew for about an hour until it was time for casino night! so at 8 we went down to the casino, but decided to wait outside until more people showed up and ended up staying outside, hanging out and talking - then when patricia and some people went to the commedy show, me and chris left and went to starbucks with 2 other girls and his friend. oo yeah, it must be me, b/c of course, we got lost!! that was not just a high school thing! LOL so 1/2 hour later after driving around in a complete circle and in the pitch black windy roads and ending up back in the same place we started, we finally made it! starbucks is only 5 mins from sbu, but we went out a different exit! so that was my night... it was fun, but i'm still not 100% used to college life and SBU, i like it, but i dont like it, i guess i'll just have to take it slow and see how things are!
