War of The Worlds

Steven Spielberg has lost his touch when it comes to making a Sci-Fi movie. It all started with A.I. No wait, it all started with The Lost World. After that, it all went down hill for him... at least that's my opinion. But I'm not going to slaughter War of The Worlds completely. The first 30 to 45 minutes of the movie were pretty friggin' sweet. And it did have it's moments with the awesome cinematography, special effects, 500+ CGI effects, and sound effects. But all that great stuff doesn't necessarily make a movie good because the main ingredient in a movie are the actors. Without them you got nothing. The actors can make or break a film regardless of all the amazing special effects, etc. based on their performance. In this case, it was the acting and horrible dialogue/script writing that turned, what could have been an awesome summer blockbuster into just another one of Spielberg's Sci-Fi flicks. Which doesn't say a lot for Spielberg standards. When you think of a movie that had a budget of $128 million dollars and A-List actors (Tom Cruise, Tim Robbins, Dakota Fanning) you expect a little more bang for you buck. The movie had an original release date/year of 2007. This would have given the writers a little more time to prepare a better script. I'm not going to give away the ending but it seemed as if Spielberg gave up and just wanted to finish making the movie considering all the special effects were created and finished before any acting ever took place. In other words the ending sucked and they never explained anything. Other then that I would recommend seeing it on the big screen on account of great CGI, sound FX, and cinematography. But be warned Dakota Fanning's character can get a bit annoying as little girls are and Tim Robbins gives a cheesy performance.

Spielberg's
Schindler's List of bad Science Fiction movies to date:
The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997)
Artificial Intelligence: A.I. (2001)
Minority Report (2002)
War of the Worlds (2005)

Goodnight!
