there's no point in asking

Am I being ridiculous to spend 13.8612 of my hard-earned dollars on a song that I don't even like?

HMV U.K. are doing that 3 single deal thingy for "Please Stand Up" by British Sea Power, the same thing they did for "It Ended On An Oily Stage." One two-song cd single, one enhanced cd single, and one 7" single.

The cover art looks lovely, what with the helicopters and a salmon on it.

Problem is, "Please Stand Up" has confoundingly proved to be Literally, Thee Only British Sea Power Song I Have Ever Truly Disliked.

I don't like it. At all.

Which is particularly puzzling, because before this, I never came upon a BSP song I didn't like. I've heard all fifty-odd songs in their repertoire, and absolutely love the vast majority of them.

Not this one.

But my devotion to the band precludes me from resisting an offer such as this. I want them to be as big and successful as they can, and I'll do my small part to help this happen. They'll get my money.

I do hope the b-sides make up for the badness, though.

I leave for Chicago tonight.

Avance, to bad music, drunken hijinks, and a happy wedding for my cousin.

She's making me wear a seafoam green dress with shoes dyed to match, the evil girl.
