this weekend, i watched 3 movies. one at the theatre, and two at home on my computer. i figured $10 was an okay deal to watch a 2 hour 40 minute serial killer movie set in 60-70s california. the cinematography for Zodiac is really really top notch. the colours, the music... everything was perfect. since i read joan didion's 'Some Dreamers of the Golden Dream', i've been captivated with retro california. san francisco in the 70s must've been an awesome era (as i would also say of 70s new york city). joan didion, if i haven't mentioned before, is one of my favourite female authors.
since sunday, i've been scaring my sister with make-belief scenarios involving the Zodiac. and if you were wondering, she is 20 and yes, i am 23. but we still act like we are 12. but to give her credit, i had ONE sleepless night after watching 'Red Dragon', which by many people's standards, was a lame thriller. i just couldn't get that scene out of my head. you know.. that one with shards of mirror glass shoved under the victims' eyelids.
it's 3am and i am positively awake. i've reminded myself time and time again that i should never take a 2 hour nap between 8-11pm on a weekday. but i was too tired to care tonight.
oh yes, the other 2 movies i saw on the weekend. i know this is boring but i watch too many movies for my own good right now.
Music and Lyrics. how loveable is hugh grant. and he plays a washed-up
80s pop star. how perfect is that?
Little Children. ok, another dystopic suburbia flick. i've been wanting to watch this for a while, and i finally found a torrent for it. it's one of those movies with many layers, and every character has its own agenda but they somehow (as always) cross paths with someone else. my favorite character in the movie? the sex-offender played by jackie earle haley. one-word, heartbreaking.
while i was watching Little Children, my sister came in and asked "why are you always watching weird movies?". haha.
judging by the time, if i sleep now, i still get to have 4 hours and 34 minutes of uninterrupted sleep time before i have to get up and trod to the wonderful level 27, where another exciting day of work awaits. exciting, which of course, pertains to the fact that i will be reading anton chekhov and IMDB-ing.
