He broke apart in your hands. Sobbing and helpless, he clung to you and you held him. What else could you do? His once strong and comforting fingers scrabbled and clutched at the front of your shirt. You tightened your arms around his hunched shoulders. He tried to curl up and into you, making himself as small as possible.
You murmured words of comfort, nonsensical sounds of reassurance. Inside you raged at the bastard who had taken him, used him, and left him crumpled and discarded. You wanted to maim and murder the man who would tear apart someone so beautiful and so fragile under all the arrogance. Instead of killing, you comforted, rocking him back and forth, back and forth.
This was not how you envisioned finally holding him, you thought. He should have been happy and smiling until his eyes nearly vanished in his face. He should have been strong and just a little cocky with it.
