furthermore, you can't quite group trekkies, gamers, and otaku in one bin and label it geek. there should either be no distinction, or a very specific one.
This test is in line with the official definitions that I learned in the early 90s. Yes, dork is used less often these days, but this test does cover the distinct difference between nerds and geeks. It's just that the two lines often overlap in today's culture.
And Trekkies and otaku are clearly similar. Overly obsessed with one particular facet of entertainment culture. Trekkie fans wearing Klingon outfits at a convention... anime fans dressed as Naruto wandering around an anime convention... similar devotion. I would fit in the gamer catagory myself, but I admit being a geek in my gaming, and a nerd in my computer science knowledge.
