Sometimes things can seem so weird (Funny) to me. I was riding my motorcycle home last night from work. I saw 5 motorcyclist and 4 of them waved to me even though one was turning a corner and couldn’t really wave. It’s so funny how friendly motorcyclists are to each other. As I was coming down the street by my place, some kids sitting in a front yard waved to me. Of course, I waved back to all these people, but if I was in the truck, none of these people would’ve waved at me. Crazy thought: As a Christian I should be friendly and kind to all people, but we have this tendency to only be friendly to certain people (Christians), sometimes even just certain Christians. I was reading in Rom. 16:16 “Greet one another with a holy kiss”. The commentary I use was talking about this custom of kissing was as common to the culture there as shaking hands is to us and that holy meant to not have any sexual connotations in the act. This would mean that we are to shake hands with every believer, whether it’s the older gentleman in the suit, the child running thru the church, the guy with purple hair, or anyone else who knows Jesus. Every person has different way to shake hands like each person will wave differently. It doesn’t mean that we have to conform to one way of shaking hands or need to dress the same. God made us all different. Perhaps, we could learn to be more friendly to each other. True, you can’t always greet each person in the church, but we can make the most of the opportunities that we do have. I’m excited about the chance to get to hang out with some people that I don’t get to talk to much at church. True, it’s a work project, but there will be time to talk some. Oh yea, if you’re from Peru, people greet you with a kiss on the cheek. How do I know? My friend’s mother is from Peru and his Aunt from Peru would greet me and everyone else with a kiss on the cheek, when I was in California for my friend’s wedding a couple of years ago.
Hope everyone has great weekend.
Love in Christ
