Update

It seems that I've been rather bad about posting to livejournal for the past couple of months, so here is my attempt to summarize my current status.

1. Classes -- There really isn't too much to say about this. I'm enjoying most of my classes, with the exception of Intro to Analysis. The professor for that basically just spews out definitions, theorems and proofs without really pausing. He also has the very unfortunate habit of standing in front of what he has written on the blackboard while he explains it. This basically means that I have to focus on writing shit down instead of actually thinking about what he says. At times I've been rather busy with homework, and since I'm not too efficient with my time, this means I've been going to sleep around 3-4 am fairly often. I'm not quite sure how long I can keep just getting 4-5 hours of sleep per night, but I guess we're going to find out.

2. Collarbone -- For those of you who are completely oblivious, I re-cracked my collarbone about three weeks ago. Luckily it didn't break all the way through this time, so the bones didn't move any more. However, since 2 months apparently wasn't enough recovery for the first time, I'm not going to be playing ultimate until next semester, which kinda blows. Luckily I can still toss, I've been throwing my lefty backhand for about a week, and the range on my righty backhand is improving. I've been throwing with Sean after lunch on pretty much every weekday, which is sweet. I'm going to get x-rayed on Monday (my fifth set of x-rays since July) and I guess I'll find out a bit more then about my recovery.

3. Dorm & shit -- Not really much to say here. My roommate moved out about a month ago (not a particularly interesting story), so I've basically a rather large single. The main benefit of this is that I don't have someone telling me to turn the lights off at 11 pm (he went to sleep really fucking early). Since we are substance free and are basically a floor of nerds, our primary recreational activity is playing LAN games of Age of Empires II. This involves a fairly large time commitment, as people play every night and, for example, tonights games lasted about 5 hours total. Still, it definitely beats studying.

4. Quizballing -- This is my other club activity (besides ultimate), and luckily my performance was not too effected by my damaged collarbone. Our first tournament was last weekend (EFT 2 mirror @ Vanderbilt if you care). Our A team came in second (losing to Alabama A) and B team, which includes me, was fourth. The tournament was pretty fun and we got to mix some very close games with the utter destruction of a few teams (like 435 - 45). I had a fairly good day, with a 26 ppg average (and this tournament didn't have powers). My favorite question was a Stargate one I got after about 2 clues. The other freshman on B team was a guy from my floor who is really fucking good at history & lit. He got 50+ ppg and 4th overall individual. He was the captain of Walter Johnson out in Maryland, which means he actually studied lists and shit and got to play TJ a bunch. It also means that if there was ever a floor v. floor quiz bowl tournament, we would fucking own.

I guess that's all for now. I'll try to be better at updating in the future.
