Board says drugstores can refuse to sell 'morning-after' pill

Okay, let me count the ways in which this is complete BULLSHIT. Better yet, check out riverheart's post, she echoes my feelings: Think you're safe from this sort of thing because you live in a liberal area, a so-called "blue state"? Think again. This is Washington, often considered a liberal ( Read more... )

I've sent you a Yousendit file to your Livejournal address. I don't know if you are familiar with the song or not - I hope not but I wouldn't be entirely surprised if you were.
I never thought I would consider revolutionary tactics and I suppose, when it comes right down to it, that I wouldn't as I don't really think they've worked in the past and I see no reason to think they'd work now but this particular administration riles me like no other and I came up during the Nixon admin. At least in that day there were Republicans who could call a spade a spade and would call their leader to account.

It just keeps getting worse, doesn't it? I remember years ago when I lived in DC, paramedics (responding to an auto accident) not only refused to treat an injured drag queen, but made jokes about her--overheard by bystanders. It made national news and the family sued the city (and won a huge settlement). But if the trends continue, soon paramedics can "choose" who they think is worthy of treatment or not.

Canada is looking more and more promising these days. And heck, they seem to be better at finding "terrorists" than we are!

I'm sorry, but I just can't wrap my head around this at all. Who are pharmacists to dictate what the patient can or cannot have, violating a doctor's prescription order?

Anybody who refuses to fill out a prescription should be immediately fired, their license stripped from them, and be barred from being a pharmacist for the rest of their lives.

It's beyond idiotic. It's so stupid, I can't figure out how grown men and women are able to agree with it. Do people THINK any more AT ALL?

I hope this shit doesn't spread north to Canada because I absolutely REFUSE to live in an environment like that.

I'm betting something else this will never apply to are any drugs which have to be administered to help a woman get pregnant or in connection with IVF (if there are any). Seems the "it's all in God's hands" stops when it comes to *conceiving* a fetus - in other words, it's not permissible to question God's plan if a woman gets knocked up, but it's fine-n-dandy for a barren couple to circumvent God's plan with thousands of dollars in treatments and drugs.

Actually, a woman recently lost her job (as a Catholic school, I think) for conceiving with IVF.

Which really has nothing at all to do with the fact that this is a bucket full of stupid with no handle.

I'm sure the pharamacists who are denying women the medicine they need to control reproduction are men.

Can someone explain to me why fucking bother becoming a person who dispenses prescription medicine if you are going to incorporate your assinine and narrowminded religious bias and refuse to give certain genders centain medicines they need. There should be a law preventing this attitude!

However, with all this said and however fucked up wrong it is, can't these women simply find another pharmacist and continue doing business with that person?
