So just about everything I wanted happened this weekend.
First Venus won Wimbledon beating her sister 7-5 6-4 for the first time in a Grand Slam final since their first meeting at the US Open. Then the next day Rafael Nadal beat Roger "I'm the best damn thing since sliced bread" Federrer 6-4 6-4 6-7 6-7 9-7. It was epic. Roger was going for his sixth straight Wimbledon...but Rafa won out to become the first man since Bjorn Borg to win the French Open (which is played on a clay court so the ball bounces high and moves very slowly) and Wimbledon (which is played on the grass which has a low bounce and makes the ball slide through the court really quickly).
YAY!!!
I did miss a big portion of the match though because we went to Pride. It was a lot of fun, but it would have been way better if there wasn't a hurricane outside. It rained (and I mean pouring torrential rain) from the beginning of the parade until the end. We got soaked. So we went to go hide under this building because it was raining and the parade hadn't started yet and these guys came up next to us that I swear were the actors from that black version of Queer as Folk, Noah's Arch. Well finally the "dikes on bikes" started the parade and I go "leave it to the hardcore lesbians to start the parade" and the guy next to me nearly die laughing. So it finally started and it was awesome. My favorite part was how everyone was like "the Christian protestors prayed for the rain and thunder and this is God's way of punishing us." It was kind of awesome. Loved how awkward it was when we ran into two other GHP kids and I said hi to Alice and Kelsie said hi to Faye, but Faye didn't say hi to me and Alice didn't say hi to Kelsie...umm weird. Also loved how awkward it was when I ran into some Chapel Hill kids..."so...you're at Pride?...yeah me too...well...cya(subtext: let's never dicuss this ever again)"...classic.
Good times all around
Well...time to go do something else...later days!
