I feel really good...YAY!!!
Life just kind fo feels better and brighter lately. Maybe it's because I'm getting over my sore throat, maybe it's because I got sleep this weekend, maybe it's because Thanksgiving is coming up, maybe it's because the weather is getting so much nicer, or maybe it's because I just feel SO much better about myself...
who knows?...who cares?
Life is good again...
I just have to say thank you so much Guin, Rita, Jason, Lindsay, Mikey, Annie, Tardy(more on him in a sec...I love him), KG, Sho, Sarah, Eric, and HUGE thank you to Danielle and Jess for keeping me sane last week. It meant a lot to me.
So anyways, I saw Equinox this weekend which is like this showcase of student written, directed, produced, desgined, and acted show. Usually...it is an absolute mess. This time around there were two shows that...well they blew. One was this show called The Boy Who Sees (Act One)...it was an adaptation of Ibsen's A Doll's House with a blind boy and his mother...it is exactly as good as it sounds. It just had the wonkiest dialogue I have ever really encountered. The other one was this delightful little kid show called the Dandyville something or other pageant...it is the most lewd, vulgar, piece of garbage I have ever seen. It is about this pageant for 10 year old girls and here are some fo the highlights of the show:
"get off my back ho and make me soe pie"
"she lets him do her in the doodie hole, but thats not real sex at least thats what my priest tells me"
"yay Pearly now mama can go get her vagina Brazillian waxed"
"shut up you stupid old queef"
I think you get the gist...clearly the playwright could not come up wiht any new jokes so she just kept adding more ridiculous obscenities and it just was not funny. It was awful and I felt so bad for the cast because it was some of the funniest peole in our school, but they just had crap to deal with...so yeah lame. However, the other two shows were soooo good. First was Mr. Mud by my good friend Tardy (his last name is Tardiff) and it was awesome. It was about this homeless man who lost his mind and had an imaginary friend and was in love with a barbie doll named Mrs. Sparkleworth. It was not funny at all. It was just so visceral and dark and...yay. Tardy is so damn talented and I love it. The other show was called Barbie Boy and it was the first musical written for Equinox and my friend Derby wrote it. It was the most bittersweet thing ever. It was all about this boy who goes to a toy store and wants to buy a barbie doll, but he is too scared to ask his dad and he is too embarassed to say it in front of the other kids. I was like crying in the end because the dad wouldn't buy it and it was so sweet and...I loved it.
All in all it was an interesting day in the theatre.
Yay break time...I is so sleepy and this will feel awesome.
I probably should start paying more attention to my class instead of writing in the live journal..so I'm gonna go.
I hope every has an awesome Thanksgiving and good luck with everything!!!
That sounded weird...this whole entry sounds really weird, but it is probably because I'm splitting my focus between this and something about the Jacobean period of drama...or something...
Well I am off to Janice's class (god I love that woman) and later days!!!!
