the more you know, the funnier/crappier things become

things i didn't understand as a child but now get completely as an adult:

1.  why my parents were always yelling and/or upset (three kids'll do it)
2.  that your metabolism is not something to take for granted
3.  i really will not ever use geometry again (i always had an inkling about this one)
4.  there are scarier things than monsters lurking underneath the bed (besides, you always have the monster snorkel for safety)
5.  back cuts really aren't cool
6.  cooties are much preferable to other things you can get from boys (i got something once; i named her stella)
7.  my parents were almost always right
8.  learning another language is not totally gay and useless (c'est amusant!)
9.  i really did regret wearing that outfit on picture day
10. i really don't have anyone to blame but myself
11. growing up feels a lot like falling down
12. of the two, the pen is infinitely mightier
13. that the concentration of douchebags seems to increase exponentially the happier you are about going out somewhere in public
14. when people ask you how you are, they don't really care about receiving a true answer
15. naps are to be enjoyed, not avoided
16. failure is relative
17. it's still funny, even after someone gets hurt
18. simon never knows what he's saying
19. sometimes, lying is the answer
20. your momma, however, is not always the answer, though it is usually enjoyable
21. there's nothing wrong with being different
22. don't expect to be understood; it only leads to heartache
23. falling in love is great; falling out of love is devastating
24. time flies even when you are not having fun
25. only the bad things build character; the good things only make you more unsuspecting and careless
26. the world can be a clusterfuck of misfortune, agony, and flat-out unfairness, but it can also be quite beautiful...

life, lists
