Shady's back, tell a friend
So, an attempt to return to livejournal was in order, for a few select friends who I know don't use insanejournal, and for the ficfests. *points at Lauryne*
What's new with me...
I'm a hostess at a breakfast place, which is funny, given that I'm such a night owl. It's less funny when I'm waking up at six-forty-five, but it is a job in a really tough economy so I suppose I can't complain in excess.
I've been doing a lot of work with journal layouts lately, and am going to *deep breath* take on an attempt to make a full website, for my mother. If it goes reasonably well I'm thinking about taking a few classes and seeing if there isn't something I can do in this field, over saturated as it is. I'd like to think that - while a little on the beginner side - the layouts that I'm doing are nicer visually than a lot of the really heinous websites out there, so at least it's a reasonable starting point!
My cat is snoring in an obscenely loud fashion, right next to my head, but I haven't the heart to poke her and earn a glare.
help_haiti seems to have been an awesome success, which I'm really pleased about. Both of my items sold for $25, so, happy dance on raising $50! I myself sent $25, though I'm not 100% sure I'm going to actually receive the miscellaneous box of Canada I bid on. All in all, it made me very very happy to be a part of anything called fandom, because the generosity, ingenuity, and plain good heartedness was tremendously impressive.
I want to go to Infinitus. *stamps foot at her bank account in hopes it gets the message*
No RPGs at the moment! Maybe I just don't know the right places to look, but the advert communities on IJ are filled with games that have ludicrous premises or else sound possibly interesting, only to have some very low-quality writing when I go to check them out. I know that's kind of snobbish of me, but if it's something I'm doing for fun I want to write with people who spend more time writing than they do texting or updating their status on facebook. If anyone knows of a good, canon-based game, do give me a poke. I'm thinking about maybe putting something together for the summer, but it's all still tentative ideas at the moment, and I don't really know if I want to commit to moderating again; it's a lot of hassle, getting people to apply, then to play, then to not just drop the game two weeks later. I miss the days when I started with RP and people stayed at games for six months or more!
Anyhow, I think that's about all that's truly relevant at the moment, so I am off to bed, where I will start the third Thursday Next novel - thank you Jillian - and pass out before dragging my bum out of bed pre-dawn. :P Love to you all!
