Well as you know we took a trip to Ohio this past weekend. It was ok, nothing spectacular, nothing went right either, but ahh well. First, I went to have lunch with tahn72 and got wrangled into judging to help out fellow gamers and a friend. I got a free weekend badge to Origins out of it, and judging is not horrible. I don't like running a module cold, and not being prepared, but I pulled it off. Never did really get lunch with tahn72, but he gave me some sammiches and brought me fries, so it was all good.
The synopsis of the trip is I visited with friends, saw Superman Returns, ate food that I don't get in MS, and generally rested as much as possible. I wish I had more time, and it is a good thing I did not bring my gaming stuff or I would have likely never saw my family at all. I missed out on some primo Dragonstorm play and a few LG's but my family appreciated me spending time with them I guess.
Also the reason for the trip really was to see my sister huge and pregnant, which I assure you she is, and my parents bought us a van. I listened to them tell me about it and declined on it, but they bought it anyways and fixed it up. The van is a wonder of utility and nuts and bolts, for you see, it does not work but it appeared to work and have minor issues. My family tried to fix it up with a little help, I test drove it and even with many helping hands, a lot of parts, and fixing all the problems, others arose. The van is a 98 Chevy Venture with 100k miles, it is a very good ride and lots of bells and whistles. I drove it on the return trip just outside of Cincinnati where it broke down. My father brought our car back and we continued on our trip back home. My son loved the van, and when we switched back to our car he was miserable crying and basically not being happy. The trip took forever on the way home. A few pitstops for potty breaks for the wife and gas, turned into a marathon drive, made longer by many factors such as constant po-po everywhere and crying. My wife of course wants the van, but unless truly fixed at a high cost I am afraid it does us no good as it is not reliable. I have not heard back from my parents on its status.
Currently, we are home and my folks are visiting with my daughter this week. She stayed with them, and they are bringing her home. I hate to say it, but it has been much quieter and easier with just my son to take care of in the evenings. One kid is a ton easier than 2, and with the 3rd on the way, my life is essentially over. I live for my family this is true, but trying to carve out something for yourself let alone take a risk and do something selfish is ludicris.
I will end with my sons birthday is the 9th, one year old already. Wow.
