Guess I should give everyone that's still hanging around an update or two...
Job search still dead in the water. It seems I've become a victim of the government welfare situation I despise. Through Genesee Health Plan, I pay about $10 or so a month for the 8 medications I take daily. Without the GHP, I would have to pay about $600 a month. If I get a "real" job, I'll lose my place in the plan. Even if the job has full-time and health benefits there's always that lovely excuse of "pre-existing condition" that they will haul out on me.
I've been working closely with Gamers Sanctuary again. The guy that took over juding Magic after I left has also turned out to be a financial expert who has helped turn the store around on several fronts. We've been talking possible expansion this year, and I think I'm topping the short list of people that would be brought on. If some sort of under the table pay can be done, letting me keep my health care, I'm set. Yeah, it sucks... but I have to do what I have to do to keep my meds.
And now...
A week before Christmas, mom was diagnosed with possible breast cancer. The Firday before, it was confirmed. She was in for a mastectomy on Tuesday and home on Wednesday. The Dr said he got it all, but the Oncologist has finally decided he wants her to have "some" chemo. He says the type of cancer she had can come back with a vengeane if not treated properly, so he wants to make sure he got all of it. We go in on Wednesday next week to find out what "some" Chemo means.
