I don't watch the MTV video music awards anymore. I don't like the music that MTV pushes.
That being said, I still follow the news once in a while.
Apparently at last night's VMA's, country singer Taylor Swift won the award for best female video. Just as she starts giving her acceptance speech, Kanye West rushes the stage, and grabs a mic to tell her that he's happy for her, but Beyonce deserved the award more. He completely ruins a moment that is very important to her as they cut to commercial.
What a fucking douchebag. Yet his popularity will only rise because of doing this because people are morons.
Towards the end of the night, Beyonce wins video of the year (shouldn't you not be video of the year overall if you couldn't win the smaller category of best female video? I digress...). She comes to the stage and says she remembers winning her first VMA at age 17 as part of Destiny's Child, and what a special moment that was. She then calls for Taylor to come out and have her moment.
I don't care for Beyonce's music, but dammit, that's class.
Some are saying that it was all something to work the crowd, MTV trying to fabricate the outrageous moment that everyone will talk about the next day. I don't think so.... mainly because Kanye is a proven douchebag that does things like this because he loves the attention he gets from it.
On a side note... after reading the review of her performance, I had to hit YouTube and see Pink performing her song "Sober" on the VMA's.
2 things...
1 - The song is amazing. A lot of this woman's talent gets over looked by so many people. Oh yeah, and she's amazingly hot.
2 - She didn't lip-synch and she performed while doing a trapeze act. Very damn impressive, especially when the so-called "legends" like Janet Jackson and Madonna can only lip-synch their shows it seems.
