I'm with you, bro. This was a cool movie, fun to watch and all, don't get me wrong. But I don't want another one. One was good. A second one might be a damn Michael Bay blow shit up deluxe. Totally destroy the good that the first one was.
Oh, and this movie has always been trendy. Don't know how you didn't catch that. People can't get enough of that "Veritas Aequitas" tattoo nonsense for some reason that I just cannot fathom. (no offense to those who have it. You are a unique individual for having this amazingly original tattoo.) Apparantly having this tat makes you the living embodiment of truth and justice, just as having wings tattooed on your back enables you to fly.
As for cult classic type films, people are going to like whatever they're going to like, and obsess way too much over it. I have movies I could watch from wake up til pass out and not ever get tired of. I'm sure you do to. That doesn't mean a sequel is justified. Shit, I could watch Thirteen Ghosts all day every day for a very long time, but that doesn't mean it deserves a sequel.
Anyways, you're absolutely right. Troy Duffy hasn't done anything as far as writing or directing since 1999, almost ten years, and didn't do anything before it. I'm in agreement, he could very well fuck up the one thing he did good.
