A Chinese-American Publisher and her Censor

Oct 28, 2012 04:26

I don't know where to start on what I think about this. It's a description of life and business as a Chinese-American woman who moved to China and took a position as a publisher. Being a tightly closed society and system, she has a government censor who analyzes most of the things she writes and publishes.

I'll have this in the back of my mind for quite a while. Censorship, government oppression and minders following people around happens to a ton of people on the planet - possibly the majority of people - and it's horrifying to ponder it. In a really strange and roundabout way, I do know what censorship feels like, every bloody day.
