We interrupt your regularly scheduled hiatus to bring you...blabbering.
So uh, I was going to write a fandom secret for this, but then I decided, what the hell, I might as well come out and say it. I might as well say it publicly, actually.
I'm gonna be completely honest here. I don't have the greatest body image, and I'm less-than-mediocre at sewing. I know the basics, with and without a machine, but really, I'm not that great. My costume for Megacon was...honestly, pretty crap. My headset fell apart halfway through and my hair didn't stay up, I was wearing my glasses the whole time, and blah blah blah.
But, like I said in my HAY I'M BACK FROM MEGACON post, there was this one girl, who really flipped into full-on fangirl mode when she saw me. She seemed so excited to see me, even if the only reason for it was because I was dressed up as a character she loved. That...really affected me. That weekend in general, really helped me feel better about myself on a level I didn't notice at that point. Everyone who took my picture or talked to me about my outfit at all or just talked TF2 with me made me feel really special and awesome.
It's only been a month or so, but it's really done a lot for me. Somehow, I've gained a lot of self-confidence. I've got at least four more costumes planned, and I'm really enjoying my work on them. From what I hear secondhand, the world of cosplay is really uptight and elitist, but I really want to do this for fun. It's such a blast, and I've been wanting to be more involved in fandom for awhile. I guess what I'm trying to say is, thanks everybody.
Anyway, on a different note, yesterday was great. I didn't get any work done, but I had a fairly successful Goodwill trip, where I found a great briefcase for the RED intel, I bought a new belt at the mall, and got some quarters so I can finally do all of my laundry before I move. I also finally made some significant progress on that 6 outfit I've been planning since...I dunno, October? It still has a long way to go, but I'm glad I finally actually got started. Working on costumes is really helping me unwind from all this hardcore working I've been doing during the week.

OH by the way, the snazzy briefcase I got for the RED Intel, It's got a pocket inside, I was thinking of maybe making a "TOP SECRET" manila folder and putting that in it, with some fake "intel." Does anybody have any suggestions for what it should be?
Some of the ideas so far:
- Print out a bunch of random slashy (and possibly porny) TF2 fanart and fanfic and have that be the "intel."
- Print out a bunch of ScoutMom/RED Spy fic and fanart and use that.
- Write or pressure someone into writing a BLU Scout/Scoutmom fic and printing that out.
I DUNNO I WANT TO DO SOMETHING CLEVER BUT SOMEONE ALREADY MADE REALLY AWESOME POLAROIDS, I HAVE NO REAL IDEAS OF MY OWN. /unoriginality.
