back-to-school shopping

Apparently August is the height of consumerism for anyone in school or with school-aged children. Back-to-school shopping gets me more stuff that I need than my birthday ever did, tying any Winter holidays in net worth of items gained. The summer has always been my time to stock up on clothes -- which also means doing lots of laundry so I can see what still fits and what needs to be passed along [yes, Nikki, my next load of laundry includes stuff for you!] -- and as such is my excuse to let my daddy buy me things, as well as indulge in any desire I have to buy things for myself. So... he bought me three pairs of black jeans that actually fit me (yay for petite sizes, stretch denim, and tapered waists!) and...

a 3-hole punch, a stapler, a staple-remover, staples, scotch tape, .7mm mechanical pencil refills, index cards, pens, highlighters, erasers, scissors, sticky notes, printer paper, lined notebook paper, and a clipboard

In addition to all of that, my daddy just ordered me a backpack online, my step-mom is helping me stock up on printer ink tomorrow morning / afternoon, and I ordered myself a few new bras since I only have around 4 right now that fit me. As usual, the urge to buy funny T-shirts (Bacon is a vegetable!) is certainly there, but can definitely wait until Spring. I'm now up to 6 pairs of jeans that fit me (3 blue, 3 black) [and a pair of lighter blue jeans that sort of fit me... if I buy another belt (or get mine back from Jason)], and theoretically I'd like to work on that more before I buy things compulsively.. seeing as I have plenty of shirts that fit. I guess the next item is to find more skirts that fit me... mini-skirts for Rocky and long, hippie skirts for Contra. Anything to go with my awesome, awesome boots. And my trenchcoat, when it gets cooler again. I almost can't wait for the frigid & windy campus winters, just so I have an excuse to wear that coat.

I'm definitely looking forward to all of my classes, especially since I'm going to be more organized this semester. I'm also looking forward to being able to afford the desktop that I want (I'll probably spring for it around Christmas break & I should be able to get Greg's old one sometime before that). I'm just rather paranoid that my laptop is going to kick the bucket soon, and I want to have a place to put all of my music & photos. Not to mention all the IPA fonts I need to write linguistics papers.

Edited to add: I'm getting my computer this week! Not the one I'm buying, but Greg's old one... to store my stuffs on. Just need to have Kiernan tweak it slightly.
