I have finally figured out what bugs me about the Twilight Series...Edward Cullen. I have just finished reading Eclipse and about the middle, when an incredibly sappy moment was making me sick and I had to stop so I would not enter a diabetic coma I've had an epiphany. The thing that irritates me in the series is Edward Cullen. Yes, the ultimate boyfriend material according to every teenage magazine in the world. He goes against my imaginary references of vampires. Bella is all the time saying how altruist he is, and so focused on relieving her of his cursed love. He claims he is the bad guy, but is "vegetarian" as they say...And the worst, he is sooooooo concerned about saving both his and Bella's virtue.
It's like a vampire Jonas Brother...
What attracts me in vampire is really the danger and the fact that he is evil in some way. Fictional sexy vampires are always hot and have some good intention but they still have to struggle with the monster inside of them. For me, lacks a little of that in the Twilight Series. I still like it because it has very good characters like Alice and Jasper showed a whole new depth in this book. And Jacob Black is THE best werewolf ever. I would so choose him over Edward. And I have always preferred vampires. It's how overly romantic this guy is. Maybe I am just a latina woman who is more confortable whit the macho kind of guy but, honestly this nostalgia for a gentleman of better times that Edward represents is not for me.
Also I miss a little blood play you know... What is the fun in vampire fiction if there is no connection bigger than sex to show. I like vampires who bite. Tell me if Bill Compton isn't hot?
Or maybe I am just too attached to my first fictional vampire love... Monsieur Lestat de Lincourt.
Forgive me for any mistake, not my first language.
