Church today was so refreshing and rejuvenating. It was a totally
soulbattery recharge. Communion always gets to me, but today I was ..
just awed. It finally hit me that when Jesus said "Do this in
remembrance of Me" He meant it. It's not just some silly ritual we do
because we can. We do it because he said so, and we do it to remind us
that his body, like the bread, was broken for us. His blood was poured
out for us. He was broken, beaten, and killed all that we may live
eternally and be fully renewed into the people we are intended to be in
God.
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full" -John 10:10
This week has been both good and bad, and none of it really matters.
It's so refreshing to feel ecstatic and carefree and assured that
nothing can hurt me forever. To know that whatever bad things may be
happening, it won't last forever. To know that I have a way out, that
God WILL lift up my head when I cannot do it on my own (which is
usually always). To know that I cannot do anything on my own, but that
He can do everything through me. To know that His strength is made
perfect in my weakness. To know that one day He's going to come for me,
and I'm going home with Him. And I'm going home happy, never to hurt
again.
I love you all so much.
And I want so much for you to feel the way I do.
To be assured that your citizenship lies in Heaven.
To be assured that you are a stranger here on earth.
"One of the things that surprised me when I first read the New
Testament seriously was that it talked so much about a Dark Power in
the universe---a mighty evil spirit who was held to be the Power behind
death, and disease, and sin. The difference is that Christianity thinks
this Dark power was created by God, and was good when he was created,
and went wrong. Christianity does not think this is a war between
independent powers. It thinks it is a civil war, a rebellion, and that
we are living in a part of the universe occupied by the rebel.
Enemy-occupied territory---that is what this world is. Christianity is
the story of how the rightful king has landed, you might say landed in
disguise, and is calling us all to take part in a great campaign of
sabotage."
-C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity.
To be assured that you are living in "enemy-occupied territory" and one day it will be renewed and become yours.
all my love, jg.
