oh phone system, i wish i understood you . . .
Today is my first full day at work. Considering how the last 3 days went, I don't have superhigh hopes. Oh well, a job is a job and at least I'm making money (how much you ask? Well I certainly have no idea. Funny how that works, huh?) So far, I have Opened all the shutters, turned on lights, and unlocked the front door; played a few exhilarating games of spider solitaire (on level "easy" . . . which is kinda hard for me. One game (well, half a game actually) on intermediate and I was DONE. D-O-N-E done.), opened and sorted the mail (woohoo!) and fought with the phone. Really I don't get it. I worked with a phone system at Eagle (the last place I worked) and I could do it just fine! This one is different though, and for some reason I seem to lose a lot of calls (which, when talking to one of the people who works here, translates into "yeah, i don't know . . .I think they just hung up!!") Boo phones. Whatever happened to good old telegrams, anyway. I vote we resurrect their use. How sweet would that be to get a telegram though, really? You can't tell me you wouldn't go tell everyone you know. Liar. Oh yeah, and I also downloaded AIM on the computer. Probably not the best idea, but I need SOMETHING to keep me busy. So feel free to talk to me during the day.
There is a pretty little round vase/bowl on my desk filled with clear marbles/stones, with fake flowers on it. it is very cute. But guess what? I bet you can't. Pull out a flower and . . . wait for it . . . .wait for it . . .its a pen!!! How cool is that?! Shut up. I think it's cool.
Yesterday we were at Donatos, and this fairly large group of dorks walked in. And drew was like "I don't like nerds" . . .Which really . . .who says that?! He was like "They think they're awesome and laugh at things that aren't funny and are really loud and obnoxious" . . .which, after observing for a while, proved to be quite true. But I realized that that is EXACTLY how we used to be. Our group of friends. Out in public in huge groups. Thought we were hilarious. Laughed alllll the time. Always made a scene. And it wasn't that we were just that cool. I mean, we weren't. But really, so what? So we were kinda losers (at least I was), but I had an all around good time bein a typical loser. And I guess the non-losers were too cool to be stupid and silly like that, but you know, we had a damn good time! So yeah, sitting there last night, they were obnoxious. And loud. And laughing uncontrollably at things that really really really were just not humorous. But you know, they were having a good time. So more power to them.
I have a date tonight!! Yayyyy!!! Hehe. makin dinner (whole wheat pasta, because its better than regular, as I hear every 5 minutes), and seeing wedding crashers!! woooo! its supposed to be a pretty good flick, I think. Anyone heard of the movie Me and You and Everyone We Know? I was reading about it on line and it looks pretty good . . . got great reviews. . . anyone? anyone? But yay for making dinner together. We've done it actually quite a few times, and it is good times! I highly recommend it. 2 months today. . . crazy, huh?
