Exactly one week from today Jack will be turning two years old. I want to do something special for him. Yesterday, Sara and I brainstormed ideas on how I can make a little veggie/fruit bowl using an small empty melon rind. That would be cute. And tomorrow, when I go to fill up the Drink More Water jugs in our house, I'll pick up a triangular cup they use for water samples and try making a little birthday hat for him. We'll see how things go. If the weather is nice, we'll go outside, no question. But how is it going to be any different from any other times we go outside? I don't know. Still must think about it but won't stress. I still have a week.
At either rate, I was online today trying to find out what kind of birthday cake recipes were out there for guinea pigs (I found some neat pictures but nothing about how they created them). I was surprised to find myself coming across the fact that dandelion leaves are just like spinach for cavies: if consumed in large amounts they will cause kidney stones. The first stage that could trigger it if not fixed soon would be a slight pain in their sides. It was interesting to note that while I was holding Jack and giving him warm fuzzies, he gave off a slightly painful noise when I was stroking him. He did the same as I pet him as he was eating. When I stroked his head he was fine. Normally, Jack loves physical contact from me. So I made the decision to abstain him from these greens and will buy him some green lettuce from Giant tomorrow after work when I do other errands.
