Likely soon to be a CDC statistic...
So... the spots/rash. It's worse. I have joint pain, headache, neck pain, back pain. Last week (pre-spots) I had fever and sore throat. Preliminary bloodwork suggests I may soon be joining the illustrious ranks of those who have had rare (and reportable!) diseases. Biopsy tomorrow to confirm presence of any one of the Typhus (not typhoid, thank goodness) diseases (Typhus, some kind of Spotted Fever, or Rickettsialpox). Not contagious. If confirmed, I will be one of approximately 15 +/- cases identified in Missouri every year. Makes me feel special and very loved by a higher power. In the meantime, doxycycline.
As a side note, I spent a lot of money at the beginning of the summer to restock my flea/tick prevention treatment for the animals... I wonder if this means I might get my money back.
