Say, what is that thing up there? Oh, it's the face of the earth that I dropped off of like three months ago. How about that.
For the sake of documentation, I have done quite a lot since my disappearance:
- Started graduate classes at Northern Illinois University. I am currently taking Usability Testing, Research Method, and a Semantics class. My graduate program is way more awesome (read: difficult) than undergraduate and I really really really really enjoy being a student again.
- I am not homeless as I had feared -- found a nice two-bedroom place between DeKalb & Chicago. Aaron's moving in at the end of his term, which will be in about 5 weeks.
- Got an unexpected Graduate Assistantship working for the NIU website (boy do they need some help), which is exciting because it includes a tuition waiver and small stipend. Hurray for a free education! They should all be as such.
- The Quad Cities has still remained a fixture -- in fact I realized that I've been there the same number of weekends per month as I did when I lived there.
- Aaron & I had our one year anniversary & celebrated by visiting Piece Brewery in Chi-town. Delicious pizza and beer, I highly reccomend.
- Toured Milwaukee (read: drank beer) with my aunt and uncle. I also saw Alice in Wonderland, which was mediocre at best.
Forgive the lack of parallelism in the above bullet points.
In general, my life has been extremely busy between class, work, and travel. But, I am also happier than I have been for a long time. Though I loathe to spend 6 more years in school, I think that I would really enjoy working in academia.
I am really looking forward to the summer, where I am taking some "classes" (Only one grad. class, then a gym class and a 2-day workshop to fill 6 credits) but will also have some time to just relax for the first time in forever. I am also considering doing a bike-ride benefit for the MS Society of Minnesota, which will be 150 miles over 2 days. If I want to participate I have to get my butt in gear by april, so I need to decide that very soon.
This is the end of my entry.
