My Thanksgiving 2005
C came to town. We went to the Museum of Science and Industry (which was my idea--hated it!). Ate lots of food. Chilled. Good day.
I don't really feel like being much more detailed...about that at least. I'd much rather ramble on about this stuff:
I swear I once had an obsession with Fear Factor (I'd watch it twice a day if I could catch both airings), but I could never ever go on that show. I mean not that I'm hinting to be physically capable of doing any of those stunts anyway...but I especially could not deal with some A LOT of the stuff they have to eat!!!!
Today, I was flipping through the channels and the contestants had to eat an underdeveloped duck egg (in other words it was a half-embryo/half-duck...talk about some sickness). I've seen a lot worse, like deer penis and various insects, but GROSSSS. I still like the obvious suspense they try to build up...and the crap-talking that goes on between both host and contestants.

I really wish I had some kind of (non-American) culture I could truly claim. I mean, regardless on what nationality someone is--black skin equals __________ (inferiority, negativity, danger, etc--you fill in the blank) to lots of non-blacks (and unfortunately a lot of black-skinned people consciously and subconsciously believe the hype), BUT...the history and tradition is cool to me. I know we have it, as black Americans, but it sometimes CAN seem so common (or bad?). Plus, I have friends from so many different non-American black backgrounds: Michelle - Haiti, Triniece and Marlon - Trinidad, C - Puerto Rico/Guatemala, Ito - Nigeria, Joel - Liberia, and the list could continue. Now all of them aren't heavily "attached" to their cultures, but...they still have that other nation to claim. More than that, it's so interesting to learn about their languages, foods, and traditions. I kind of envy the notion that I can't fully claim them.

Tonight's episode of The Boondocks was good. It wasn't as funny as others I've seen, but it was really one to pay attention to. Huey was teachin' tonight.
"Watching niggas make a fool of themselves seems to be America's favorite new pastime...A private nigga moment* shames you. A public nigga moment shames the entire race."
*They had an entire little scene dedicated to defining the term "nigga moment". To sum it up, it dealt with doing STUPID ISHT such as fighting over stepping on sneakers or bumping into each other and mean mugging...kinda falling into place with what I said above.

T. Kweli's mixtape does not seem like a good move to me...though I would want to hear his track with MF Doom.
Enough.
