My across-the-street neighbor...

... Is such an idiot.  The guy has a huge pickup truck that for some reason he never parks in his driveway (even though the driveway is huge and can fit at least 2 vehicles in it).  He always parks it out on the street.  He and his family have lived here for more than 6 years and he's done it every day.  Our street is not that wide to begin with, ( Read more... )

If y'all have talked to him about it before, then he's aware. I'd call the city next time and tell them that someone has illegally parked in the street and is blocking your driveway and you would like the vehicle towed.

Paying some towing fees would likely prevent him from doing it again.

Yeah, I think he's aware but he just doesn't care. He's really lazy, likes to park the truck right out front there so he can just run out his front door and hop into it. *rolls eyes*

I don't want any trouble with him, but this is getting to be more trouble that it's worth. It's time to take more drastic action. Hopefully paying some fees will get him to wise up a little.

some people can be so stupid and thinking they own the world..
Wants you to kick some ass right?
Have a drink, breath in, breath out and maybe follow the advice in the previous comment?

Thanks for the hugs Hastie. :) ((hugs back))

It's almost amazing how stupid some people can be. I'm more calmer about it now and I'm going to see what else I can do.

Our neighbour does something similar: he parks his truck (really big!) next to his house and ... you guessed it: right across our driveway. Isn't it great ? Even though he drove it away when I asked him to, he just doesn't always remember. And I know for a fact that I can't leave if he's standing in the way. But at least he's friendly.

Back to you: Stick with the tow-idea. Maybe it'll work - and let him pay for your car's damage. (I don't know laws in the US though?) Unfortunately you can't please everyone. Sometimes you have to stick up for yourself.

It is so annoying. But it's nice that he's friendly. My neighbor is pretty friendly too, but he's just so clueless. It's sad.

I am definitely going to bring it to his attention. I didn't see him all day today (wonder if he realizes what happened and is avoiding me...?). I am going to take some action though. This is really the last straw.

The best thing to do Jess, is to call the police. Call your local precinct and have them come and make a report. And be sure to take pictures too.

Check with your town also about how long things can be parked on the street. In Valley Stream, you can only park on the street for 4 hours even if you're in front of your own house-they can give you a ticket (I've never seen anyone get one though.

Is his truck a commercial vehicle? If so, he may not be able to park it at all in a residential area. So you might want to check that out too.

Hang in there. *HUGS*

I'm definitely going to check into that. I think he works for Suffolk County, but I'm not sure if his truck is a commercial vehicle. It might be. He does leave it out there for hours most times. Sometimes he just takes a day off (I guess he's allowed to do that with his job). It's really annoying.

But I'm going to take some kind of action here - I've had enough.

Thanks for the advice and the hugs. *HUGS back*
