There was a very important part I skipped out of the previous entry. I mean, yes, I have an irrational -- fear's not right, but phobia's way too strong -- an irrational freak on about going to visit my family. On the other hand... It could be worse. I have to do an amazing amount of nerving myself up to call people on the phone even when I know them.

Oh, I have that problem too. I'm a lot more complacent about the phone thing, because I can at least generally get email to do the job instead. Ask flechyr, he'll tell you we'd both rather text than talk, even to each other, on the phone.

It doesn't get better. I'm going to be 61 in a few weeks and I have never traveled alone and would be scared stiff to do it.

If you can get up in front of an audience and sing and play, why not just think that this is another gig?

Would that it worked this way. Without getting very detailey (yes, that's now a word!), performing and social interaction are *very* different beasts. Also, I'll point out, I don't sing alone either :D

I felt the same way, until I did it a couple of times. Although you could probably ask my son how annoying it is when I obssessively check to make sure we both have our boarding passes or that he still has his ID...we get to do it again Columbus Day weekend.

heh, fun :D I'm envisioning some sort of locking mechanism, possibly of the briefcase-with-handcuff variety...
