just to warm up your heart a lil bit...

so i was canvassing today and the day was going shitty. like, a shit-monster who's made of shit and who eats and bathes in nothing but shit hasn't yet seen a day so shitty as this.

okay.. so it wasn't THAT bad.. but it was pretty sadnenning. i almost started crying at one point.. the point when everyone walking by decided to ignore me. bleh.

so ANYWAY.. i switched spots with rebecca and realised i was at the very first place i ever canvassed. eventually, some lady signed up for a 10$/mo.

then this asian man and his son went walking by. they did that thing, where they look curiously back at me, but are too shy to ask any questions and too far away for me to talk to them. i realised they were digging for change.

the little boy came running over to me. this is what he said.

"hi!"

so i replied, "hey buddy, what's up?"

he giggled and said "nothign" or something.

"are you gonna try and give me some change?" i asked. "cuz that's awesome but we can't take any money on the street."

still smiley as hell, with little kid dimples and boldness said "so what are you doing?"

i grinned and thought he was about to translate to his dad, who didn't know english. the kid told his dad the no cash thing.

"well, we're signing people up to give small donations every month. it's called the miracle club."

without asking his dad, "how much is it a month?"

"well, it's really anything you want. lots of people like to give 30$ a month, but you can do anything at all." he translated, i continued. "it works through a bank account or credit card."

the kid - this adorable innnocent little boy - reaches into his pocket and pulls his bank card out of his wallet.

"what if there's only 15$ in it?"

i smiled an almost-watery smile at the darling little kid. "how old are you, buddy?"

"ten!"

"well i'll tell you what. in 6 years from now, when you're 16, you can sign up then, okay? just look us up online."

"you'll still be around then?"

"i promise. we're gonna be around for a very long time."

"even for hundreds of years till all the diseases are gone?"

an even bigger smile from me "that's right. until they're all gone."

"what about new diseases that come along?"

"you know what? we'll be around until every single disease is gone."

"awesome!" he yelled, and scampered away with his dad.

*smile* i love my job.

life is awesome
