October Crown. Ah, to be present when giant controversial things happen. That is something that is always fun.
First off, I had a wonderful time! We missed the serious rain on Friday night, as Marc and I decided that since he didn't get off of work until 6, it wasn't worth the long drive/set up in the dark and rain. SUCH a good plan, I hear that is was truly horrific. We got there nice and early on Sat., had a leisurely set up, and made it to court with time to spare. There were a lot of fighters and it was a wonderful turnout. It's nice, going to an event and getting to relax! Their Majesties managed to cram a lot into the weekend, and every time I turned around, there was something new and interesting to observe and see. I still haven't gotten much of a chance to spend time with Her Majesty, but I am hopeful that at some point we won't be so busy that we can get to know each other better. She and Uther looked incredible in their Elizabethan garb!
So I know the thing everyone is wondering... what happened with Titus and Jade? Fact: Titus yielded the fight to Jade, saying that he was fighting for the love of his lady, and knew that lately the term "win at all costs" was being branded as a West Kingdom mentality. Titus stated that he wanted to show everyone that he loved his Kingdom and that this statement about winning was not true. Jade was not aware this was going to happen, and clearly was surprised.
Let me just say this... Titus was not making a statement about Jade, he was not being nasty, and he meant it in a beautiful, heartfelt way. Anyone saying his intentions were otherwise is incorrect. You can agree with it or not, but giving it an evil spin when it wasn't meant that way, uncool. It caused a lot of controversy and everyone feels differently, but I hope that the truth will not get twisted about until Jade is a demon and Titus is evil and striking out. :)
Moving on... I had a BLAST Sat. night! I got to sing with Obadiah, Daniel, Alden and Thorfinn. MUCH FUN. Ok, so really they serenaded me, as everyone knows I can't sing. :) Constantina and Lourdes sang me a lovely little tune... *grins* I had some great conversations with Titus, Jade and about a bazillion more people. Aine and Sven kept me safe from harm, Aine with her killer ice glare and Sven by drinking anything that frightened me. LOL Uther and his brother assured me that I can turn to them anytime I am in trouble... I stood between them and was absolutely dwarfed... I now know how the small chihuahuas feel around great danes!
I was so proud that the turnout for the booze fairies was so strong... many of you don't know this, but I lost my very best friend Vikki a few years ago to breast cancer. She was 34, and fought hard for four years... it was a sad, scary wake up call that this disease kills the young as well. Please, be aware and be vigilant.
In closing, I got to see so many wonderful people, I really enjoyed this Crown. I was so well taken care of that I had no worries at all. My wonderful head of court Celine along with Teresa kept us fed, attended and warm. We had a GREAT time, thank you to each and every one of you that made this a memorable event.
