it's been nice.

As far as the week goes, it's been pretty good. Homework hasn't been heavy, the weather's been wonderful, and I've been in a pretty good mood. I realize that I've kind of gotten past the meeting people and establishing myself stage and now I'm really getting to know people, which makes me happy. It feels good to make connections with people. It's interesting to interact with people so much deeper than you normally do at school or in day-to-day life.

In addition, I got two new cds, Rabbit Fur Coat (which came to me in the mail with a letter from Keiko enclosed, the darling girl, I adore her), and The Life Pursuit, which I have fallen deeply in love with. I have to say that the Life Pursuit has been simply perfect for this week because it's so incredibly cheery and happy to listen to.

Today I had my first actual Theory of Knowledge class where we actually discussed. I had been looking forward to the class all day, I was really interested to see which directions we were going to be going in, so it definitely kind of threw me off when we started talking about religion. I wasn't exactly thrilled because I knew a bunch of people would present really biased views about Western Religion (mainly Christianity), and not consider religion in general. and I was right. While some people were insightful, there were a few who made irritating comments, such as whether or not you can be considered religious if you don't attend church. that made me kind of aggravated because not every religion has a church or temple or whatever, and I just felt like people were totally missing the point. religion is not about those physical aspects. anyways, some people are really freaking narrow-minded. but despite that I'm still really looking forward to ToK cause most of the people in my class seem pretty ok, and it seems like our class is pretty mellow compared to the other one. There seems to be a lot of really opinionated people in the other one and I'm just glad I don't have to deal with that intensity.

"This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness."
