Jobs

I interviewed for a permanent, full time position at OPD last week. the interview went very well. Then I found out through the grapevine that the person filling in for the position up for grabs was also applying to take it over permanently. I knew I wouldn't get it.

Today the supervisor called me to say that, I was #2. But that there were two new positions in her department available and that they would post next week. Unfortunately they pay a bit less than the one I put in for and didnt get. But its a foot in the door. Its a vertical name badge, and city benefits. I'd be more than happy to move down to the 1st floor and continue working for $10 an hour for another year if it meant job security. I'd rather move down stairs and work for $12 an hour, but maybe we can compromise on $11.

I also put in for a position with the HIV/AIDS department with the state Department of Health. I figured that knowing one of the directors couldn't hurt. It pays $12.75 an hour.

Did I mention here that I have a Bachelors Degree with a double major and that I've completed the coursework required for a MASTERS DEGREE, have written 3 of the 5 chapters of my thesis (as in- as soon as I finish writing those 2 chapters, I'll have the damned degree), and that I have FOUR YEAR EXPERIENCE working in the government. But no- I will take a job paying $10-13 an hour and be happy for it.

I'm gonna go apply at Whataburger. I know the manager. Maybe he can get me $9 and I wont have any responsibilities.
