all of this newness.

so if you were unaware...since the last entry my life has drastically changed. i moved out of my house, and moved in with mike, and started working as a nurse. responsibilities, responsibilities. everything is still so overwhelming. the move-in was really difficult. not emotionally, but physically. dear lord. i never want to ever move anywhere again. i could have nearly killed someone over the span of those two days. it was like 98 degrees outside and there are 4 small flights of stairs leading up to the apartment. so...enough said. i moved a lot of my stuff on friday, then mike's family came on saturday and we all went out to eat together at friday's afterwards. it was really nice to have the families together. however....we all ended up getting food poisoning (literally every one of us) from sunday night into like tuesday. it was really great waking up for our first days of work on monday morning feeling like we were going to vomit up our insides. i had central orientation all week, so we were just in classrooms learning a bunch of stuff we already know. mike totally loved his job and actually got to go out on gigs his first week and is making lots of friends, heh. last weekend we tried to catch up on a lot of the stuff that we hadn't finished...like putting art up on the walls and returning stuff and buying more things. we went grocery shopping again and i have been cooking as much as i can. it's kind of a small kitchen but fine i guess. our schedules haven't really been matching up that much. this week has been better so far. i'm trying to make a lot of different food and we sit in the office and watch lost on the computer while we eat :) it's so fun living together. i just like coming home to him.

work officially began yesterday...and it was great. i kept trying to do extern things, like stocking rooms and sending labs and other remedial tasks and forgetting that i was actually completely taking care of one patient. there is a lot of stuff that i didn't realize the nurses had to do...like document on the baby's status and the contractions every half hour. it feels like you're doing it every 5 minutes. but i had a couple of deliveries yesterday, and helped with a c-section for a baby that was seriously dying inside of his mom...because there was a tight knot in the umbilical cord. he was wasting away. he looked like one of those wrinkly little dogs...like, if you picked him up by the skin of his back it would stretch so far. he was severely growth-restricted. but he was breathing great and had a good heart rate and ended up being like 4 pounds or something, when he should have been 7-8 pounds. man. then today i put in my first 2 IVs and drew blood twice. it was awesome. i totally am obsessed with sticking people. i will update more when i start doing more cool stuff.
