pass the sherry - england is wack

We didn't go to Durham bc it cost £20 return per ticket and I don't think even a day at Durham cathedral is worth the cost of three curries delivered with naan and rice from Radhui's.

Instead we pottered and strolled around relatively aimlessly. Went to the railway museum (where we saw a lot of trains and took photos of them all) then to an English tea shop (not the teddy bear tea shop we went to on Thursday, but a completely different one) in a cinema complex where I had a wine, Rads had a cappucino (cuppa chino, anyone?) and I did a drawing of York until some young delinquents stood in front of me.

Yesterday we lounged and it was grand. I did a lot of marking and grew disillusioned when I realised my students were morons.

Today we will eat roast at lunchtime somewhere lovely. Drink beer and remember Mr Heston, briefly, who, Raddi tells me died today. There were some tasteless jokes made that made us laugh and we will probably make some more in the hours to come.

Then to Evensong at the Minster.

Then to Castle Howard tomorrow. (Raddi: Huzzah!)

In Newport turns out it's SNOWING today and am MAD bc I turned off my heating. Therefore my pipes may burst and not in a fun way. Stupid England. Am Not Impressed.

To sum up, the English are mad but Charleton Heston was madder. Teddy bears make excellent tea shops and the education system here is wack. As is the weather.

God bless you, Mister Heston. May you rest peace - in a heaven full of lots and lots of guns, wenches and chariots. Or maybe gun wielding wenches in chariots.

All is well and all is well and all shall be well.

why i'm glad i went to school in austral, i laugh at the english weather!, adventures in food, york york york, tea heals all wounds, the strange manner of the english
