A certain home sickness

Jan 11, 2017 13:00

Afternoons in Menton
are like a tangerine's kiss
ripe with the promise of forever
and the skies run daily their
race
from dawn to dusk.
Flushed, the sun
quenches itself
downing the sweet
waters of the Côte d'Azur,
seaside soda, sparkling dream.

Happy are the waves that lap the coast,
frothing with laughter, the ships
clink
in the breeze,
a few old friends having drinks.
Warm is the sea
and kind,
deep is her love for the sun
like the fisherman
loves his catch,
and the umbrella loves
the sun-bather.

my second home,
blue, beautiful, warm
as if
I didn't leave one
two oceans away.

personal, shortbread, travel, writing, reflections, poetry
