traveling

Aside from teaching, which is a job that apparently I won't be losing any time soon, since they are about to double my studio, I have been mostly looking ahead in the calendar. Universities are posting their academic calendars, the Academy e-mailed me their academic calendar, orchestras are announcing their seasons. I've been putting all this into my calendar, since most of our work comes from those sources. But mostly b/c I was trying to schedule our visits down to AL. We're cutting back this year, but we'll still be down there a lot - once every 6 weeks. It is an unappreciated effort from certain parties, but I love my family, so we will continue anyway. I have been going ahead and scheduling our trips through the school year, including visits to Colin's Dad and siblings.

I've realized this kind of traveling will become a real pain when my sisters and brother get married and move all around the world.

Yes, it might seem kind of obsessive to be scheduling for the whole school year, but I don't want to schedule gigs over the times when we need to go back to visit family. I am already not thrilled that Colin and I are, at least for the time being, perpetually booked for Mother's Day and Father's Day. Oh well. We still go down there plenty. And the road goes both ways.

Now I get to plan fun things, like our anniversary trip. :) We had an idea that we'd like to go to a different state every year for our anniversary. We've already knocked out Alabama since we both lived there, and this year we're going to Mississippi, to go ahead and get that one off the list. :)

Also, Mom mentioned going on a cruise to Alaska next summer for Lauren's graduation present. I'm not sure if we'll be in on that or not, depends on the timing.

More importantly, I need to either tell Teresa we're staying with her before her wedding, or we need to reserve a freaking hotel room!

Jacqueline is bringing her boyfriend up here in August. I'm excited about finally meeting him. I've felt kind of left out - she definitely tells me the most about him, but the whole rest of the family has actually met him and spent time with him. And they've been dating for over 6 months. Apparently he's scared of meeting Colin, though. Which is kind of laughable, b/c he has mixed Colin up with my Uncle Charlie. Oh, hilarity will ensue. :)

I just realized I typed out her whole name. I do that so rarely.

Last Sunday, I played 3 masses in a row (8, 10, 12) at a local church, and between the 8 and 10 masses, I went to the grocery store to get some breakfast; I got a box of Quaker's chewy granola bars. Bad idea. I only ate one that morning, but they've been sitting on the coffee table in the living room this week, and I polished that box off in 2 sittings. I've also been drinking Coke and Mello Yello like a fish. I need to avoid these unhealthy eating habits!
