Day 20, 21, 22 - Songs That I Listen to When I'm Angry/Happy/Sad

Aug 22, 2010 23:40

It's been a few days. I had planned to lump these three together anyway, but then I let it go a couple days farther.

First, the reason why I decided to combine these: I listen to pretty much the same music when I'm angry as when I'm sad. Either way, I'm hunting for 'zen' music. I'm not a fan of angry and sad, so in those situations I want music that will bring be back to balance. There are two bands that do the trick quite nicely, and together in a playlist, they are like magic. Those are The Shins and Red Hot Chili Peppers. I'll put a couple of their songs down below.

When I am feeling upbeat and happy (and consciously choose my music), I usually listen to artists like Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat. I almost always listen to adult alternative these days, anyway. Nearly all of my favorite music falls into that category.

On the way home from the beautiful wedding Scott and I just attended, I was singing a Colbie Caillat song to him very loudly (and possibly obnoxiously - he loves it). He told me that I'd had too many mocha chais. I can't remember which song it was, but here is another Colbie song that very accurately describes my feelings for my husband and is perfect to listening when I'm happy.

Apparently there is a "Letter's to Juliet" music video for it. Interesting.

Here's a beautiful song from The Shins. It's also a love song.

And finally, some quality Peppers. This is the first band I've posted that has disabled YouTube embedding (boo to that!), so instead here's a link to their Dani California video.
